Quicksaw plantation and the adjoining grazing land cover a total area of just over 40 Acres. The land comprises of 30 acres of good quality grazing and 10 acres of deciduous and mixed woodland. It is situated on the outskirts of Sheffield to the Northeast edge of Ringinglow village.
Quicksaw plantation is shown on early maps and has been worked for commercial timber production within living memory. Our land is only a few hundred yards from the Derbyshire border and the Peak District National Park.
Our site occupies an enviable and picturesque location overlooking Porter Clough and the Mayfield Valley with views of Sheffield beyond.
Our primary aim is to create a dependable and sustainable rural business as an example to farmers and landowners wishing to diversify from mainstream agriculture. We are developing one of the countrys premier quality Peruvian Alpaca breeding herds offering stud services and animals for sale at realistic prices. All our breeding animals are of superfine quality (<22mu) and we aim to improve our overall quality over the forthcoming years. Alpaca breeding is recognised in the governments "English Rural Development Plan" as an appropriate diversification opportunity for existing farmers. Information on the Alpaca Breeding market is freely available from Mayfield Alpacas and shows that alpaca breeding can provide valuable sustainable revenue for many years to come. Our business also has the added benefit of creating local employment and will form many beneficial links with other local farms and businesses.
